The desk
This setup comes from our team's photo archive and is in the 9spaceX gallery. Warm wood hexagon lights glow on the wall above a dark desk, with a monitor on an arm, a light bar on the monitor and a laptop beside it.
Why it works
The wall panels are many small, low lights instead of one bright lamp, which OSHA says generally gives less glare. The light bar lights the desk surface from above the screen, where a task light belongs.
Colour
In the US Department of Energy's lamp guide, warm white around 2,700K reads as friendly and personal, and cool white around 4,100K reads as neat and efficient. An evening desk like this one leans warm.
Build the same idea
- A monitor light bar for the desk surface: the Yeelight Screen Light Bar Pro is in our Showcase.
- An arm to put the screen at eye height: our dual gas spring arm takes two 13 to 32 inch screens.
- A matte surface under the keyboard: our wool felt desk pad is 80 x 40 cm, 3 mm thick, with a non-slip base.
