We only publish a number we can point to, and when sources disagree we say so.

How we test
  • Our spec reviews read the maker's published specs and set them against public guidance such as OSHA's computer workstation guide and the US Department of Energy's lighting guide. They are not lab or bench tests, and each review says so.
  • Brand claims stay labeled as the brand's own figures, and the downsides independent reviewers report go into our FAQ answers.
